Who we are

The Chamber of Trade and Commerce aims to sustain successful business in Market Drayton, so that the community benefits from high quality goods and services.  The Market Drayton Chamber is an affiliate member of the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce.  The cost of membership is currently £30 per year.

Marketing and Promotions: The Chamber works with statutory and voluntary organisations and individuals to increase shopping commuters and tourist visitors to our town.  We constantly achieve exposure in all local press and radio with items of interest to our town.

Business and Community Lobby Group: The Chamber represents   business views and lobbies council and local government agencies on behalf of its members. We want a fair say on plans for economic development and legislation that affect our businesses. When Government says it is helping local businesses we want to know how and see the results.

Networking: The monthly meeting (normally at 18.00hrs. on the second Monday) provides opportunities for members to network and gather information from other members and guest speakers. This is a focus for dissemination of information, but email and mail-shots also ensure that businesses are kept abreast of developments.

Festivals and Events: The Chamber promotes and is often involved in the organisation of festivals and events which encourage tourists and visitors.

Chamber members are eligible for free membership of the Shopwatch scheme, set up in Summer 2007, which aims to discourage anti-social behaviour, theft, and other crime in Market Drayton. Members have a direct link to a mobile phone held by the CSO on duty in the town.

Internet Exposure: Members are located on the Chamber website, with links to their own business website. This is updated every six months. Each member also has the opportunity of a presence in the North Shropshire District Council Business Directory, and the Market Drayton Town Council website.
